Pete Campbell

Profile: Pete Campbell

Since before I can remember I have been involved in sport, namely swimming. When I was 15 a friend of mine suggested I have a go at triathlon. I was hooked. As much as I loved my early triathlon career it was a steep learning curve, and I made many mistakes. I did my first Ironman at 19 (way too young), I trained too little, I trained too much, I ate the wrong things, I didn’t rest properly, I never had a coach or a mentor. Despite all this I have had some success, competing at numerous world championships, and picking up national age group titles across various distances. Most importantly though, all the time I was acquiring knowledge.

I started to coach voluntarily at my local triathlon club in the UK around 12 years ago. I found I had amassed a considerable amount of knowledge. Passing this on and helping others in their endeavours was very rewarding. In 2015 I had the opportunity to move to New Zealand and work as a full-time coach. I took full advantage and quit my career of 10 years, moving here to work alongside Chris Willett at Perimeter Coaching as a swimming and triathlon coach.

I now run Campbell Coaching and a thriving swimming squad. We cater to all abilities, and technique features highly in my coaching, as well as enjoyment. I coach a range of individual athletes, who are all linked by one commonality, that of achieving their goals and unlocking their potential. Whatever your aspirations are, I firmly believe all athletes are equal and success is measured by conquering your goals, whatever they may be.
