Profile: Luana Cox
Throughout my years of training and racing I have always had a coach and believe this expert guidance enabled me to get the most out of myself and achieve goals I had only previously dreamed about. I realised I had amassed a wealth of knowledge through my own experiences training and racing and want to help others achieve their goals.
Through my background as a personal trainer and my own experiences over the years with injuries I believe it is important to incorporate functional strength and mobility training into a training plan. I can also offer nutritional guidance.
I have a special interest in helping beginners and busy parents trying to balance training around work and family. We all start somewhere and I believe that anyone can turn their dreams into reality with the right guidance and the desire to want to achieve.
I did my first triathlon in 2009 at the then “Bendon Womens Tri” (now “Generation Homes Womens Tri”) and loved it! This was the sport for me! I decided I wanted to do longer distances so under the guidance of my coach I was soon doing Half Ironman distance races, going on to represent NZ at the ITU World Champs in Henderson Nevada. Since then I have done numerous Standard and Half Ironman distance events and a few full Ironman races, culminating in qualifying for and racing the Ironman World Champs in Kona Hawaii, what a buzz! I have also done road marathons, trail ultra distance events (Taupo 50km, Tarawera 50km, Ring of Fire 75km, and Tarawera 102km) and lots of Half marathons (too many to count!)
I am mum to 5yr old Emily and understand that training and family/work life must be in balance. That to achieve your goals with the right guidance and the desire to achieve them anything is possible.
