EVES Surfbreaker 2017

The official announcement of the 2017 EVES Surfbreaker Triathlon was tonight at the Triathlon Tauranga season launch.
With Triathlon Tauranga now taking ownership of the event some big changes were announced. Let's start with the swim ‍♂️
Still taking place @ the Mt Main Beach but the Sprint will do 2 laps of a small triangle to swim 750m
Transition is on the move .... ‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️ back down to the road near the Surf Club.
The bike ‍♂️ will be a 3 lap, 19km ride to the end of Marine Parade & back to Pacific Ave for the bike turn-around. And yes no more worrying about drafting as it's now LEGAL.
And then lastly the run ‍♂️ No more slogging 2.5km to Tay Street to the run-turn. We will be going out 1.25km & then coming back to the Transition area & back out to the turn & then with the traditional Mount Main Beach sand run to finish, coming up off the beach to finish to complete the 5km run & the race.
Yes we will still be having a Super Sprint distance of 375m swim ,7km bike, 2.5km run.
All these changes have been made for numerous reasons like Athlete enjoyment, spectator involvement & Athlete safety.
Watch the website www.surfbreaker.co.nz for new maps & course description. Also entries will open on October 9th.
